We could all use some extra Zzzzz's am I right? I was talking with a friend the other day and we were talking about how we are living in a time and raising children in the era of "overstimulation" with schedules, tv, internet, too much stimuli for these little beings. Creating space for a mindfulness practice at a young age is a beautiful way to keep them connected to their inner awareness. Their inner GPS and that true connection to mind, body, spirit. There is a misconception that mindfulness takes so much time! It does not have to take long, because let's face it expecting a toddler or young child to sit still for long periods of time is kind of unrealistic. However taking a few mindful minutes comes with some amazing benefits and not just in the moment but for the years to come.
So I created this meditation under 3 minutes that I do with my 3.5 year old, she sits through the whole thing. (she even designed the set in the video) Her favourite part she tells me, is when she is sinking in to the cloud. So I thought I would share the love, and maybe you and your child would enjoy it too.
If they are still awake after the meditation, it is a perfect opportunity for connection by asking questions.
What did you see in the big nights sky?
What was your favourite part?
Are you ready for your sweet sweet sleep?
I am super passionate about children's mental and emotional wellness, as well as connection between parent and child. Because it is what our children want most. Connection. Not perfection.
It brings me so much joy to create them, if you are also passionate about children's emotional well being please share and tag a friend or leave a comment letting me know if you would like me to create a meditation for something specific.
